This policy explains what ToolNest does and does not collect. The short version: the tools never see your data, because your data never leaves your device.
1. Your files and inputs
Every tool on this site runs entirely inside your web browser. When you merge a PDF, compress a photo, build a resume or calculate a mortgage payment, the file and the numbers you type are processed locally by JavaScript running on your own device.
- Your files are never uploaded to any server, ours or anyone else's.
- Your calculator inputs — salary, loan amounts, dates, passwords — are never transmitted.
- Tool inputs are not sent to our server. Invoice and resume drafts remain on your device when you explicitly choose Save on device; clearing site data removes them.
The one exception is the currency converter, which fetches published exchange rates from a public rates service. It sends only a request for the rate table — never the amount you typed.
2. Information stored in your browser
A few small preferences are saved in your browser's own local storage. This never leaves your device and we cannot read it:
- Saved drafts — invoice/resume details you explicitly save. Downloaded backups remain wherever you save the file.
- Tool transfers — when you choose a next-tool shortcut, its result is held in this tab’s session storage and removed when the destination reads it. Unused transfers expire after ten minutes and are removed on the next read, or when the tab session ends.
- Currency and help language — your chosen preferences.
- Theme — whether you chose light, dark or system.
- Favourites — the tools you starred.
- Recently used — the last few tools you opened.
- Cookie choice — whether you accepted or rejected advertising cookies.
Clearing your browser data removes all of it permanently.
3. Analytics
Analytics is optional and disabled until configured by the site owner. If enabled, the provider may receive page URLs, referrers, device details and network information. Tool input values, document contents and file names are not deliberately included in analytics events. Provider settings and your cookie preferences determine further processing.
4. Advertising
The tools are free. Advertising is optional and may help fund maintenance when enabled. Ads may be served by Google AdSense and its partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info.
- We do not intentionally transmit your files or tool inputs to advertisers. Third-party scripts may receive network and browsing information when enabled.
Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, advertising and analytics cookies are disabled by default until you consent. A banner appears on your first visit with an equally prominent Accept and Reject option, and your choice is honoured for every later visit. Rejecting costs you nothing — every tool works identically either way.
Visitors in California and other US states
We do not sell personal information. Under the CCPA and similar state laws you may request details of any information held about you; because we operate no user accounts and no server-side database, tool inputs are not stored in a server-side database. Hosting providers may retain access/security logs, and correspondence you email to us is retained in our email service.
5. Your rights
Where the GDPR, UK GDPR or a comparable law applies, you have the right to access, correct, export or erase personal data held about you, and to withdraw consent at any time. This site has no user accounts. You can contact us about correspondence or other personal data you believe we hold.
Use Cookie preferences in the footer when the basic banner is active, or the installed advertising consent platform’s settings. You can also clear this site’s browser data. Rejecting optional cookies does not restrict access to tools.
6. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page.
8. Contact
Questions about privacy, or a request under any of the rights above, can be sent to laksrao.dev@gmail.com.
